Rex Hill & A to Z Wine Dinner

6 PM RECEPTION - 6:30 PM SEATED DINNER
In the 1920s, agriculture was booming in Willamette Valley. Plum, pear, apple, walnut, and hazelnut orchards covered the hillsides, and it was home to dozens of independent fruit and nut drying facilities. One of these facilities on Rex Hill in Newberg, Oregon, became home to a pig farm and commune before it was left empty in the late 1970s. Paul Hart and his wife, Jan Jacobsen, discovered the property in 1982 and fell in love with the poor building and beautiful surroundings. They decided to convert it to a vineyard and plant Pinot Noir. In 2007, when Paul and Jan were ready to retire, they didn't sell to a wine conglomerate but chose the founders of A to Z Wineworks, another family-owned Oregon winery. Most Oregon Pinot Noirs are known for having red fruit flavors, high acidity, and an earthy structure, but diverse microclimates impart uniquely different nuances to the state's most famous grape. Pinot Noirs from the Willamette Valley have received critical acclaim from wine connoisseurs and critics, and Oregon is known as one of the premier Pinot-producing regions in the world.
