Winemaker Merry Edwards is a giant in California wine. What began as a hobby making fruit wines as an undergrad became a Masters in Enology. She would get her start as the official winemaker at famed Mt Mount Eden where she cultivated her own clone of Pinot Noir, a clone widely used in the Russian River today. This attention to evolution in farming continued when she founded Matanzas Creek Winery and helped California growers see the importance of clonal variation in vineyards. In 1997 she met future husband Ken Coopersmith and within a year’s time the two of them would plant vineyards that became the base for her namesake winery Merry Edwards. The wines of Merry Edwards continue to impress today, with the New York Times calling her Sauvignon Blanc the best in America. Her single vineyard Pinots and Chardonnay are beloved cult wines. We are thrilled to host her husband/fellow grower Ken Coopersmith on Tuesday, April 17th. We hope you’ll join us for a tremendous night of food, first-rate company and wine!
